Actually, that last list of mine was pretty much slapped together as fast as possible. FOR REALZ THIS TIME:
1. Audiosurf
2. Half-Life 2
3 (Single-Player). Yoshi's Island/Super Mario World
3 (Multi-Player). M.U.G.E.N./Marvel VS. Capcom 2

Audiosurf and MUGEN don't count. What the hell is MUGEN anyway?

It's fucking stupid. Don't even bother.
And I really wish you'd stop listing romhacks/freeware/fan-games in your Best Of lists, dude. They DON'T FUCKING COUNT.

Audiosurf combines my two favorite things (games and music) into a super-fun package, and the gameplay is only limited by my taste in music. It is easily my favorite game ever. Hell, it's on Steam; how could it not count?!
Also, MUGEN is a fighting game that you can download TONS of characters and levels into and just have a blast. With the amount of characters out there, you could almost call it EVERY FIGHTING GAME EVER IN ONE PACKAGE. I mostly included it because of how much fun me and my friends at school always had with it. We played it for MONTHS.

I think JT's point is that these are passing fancies.

Also, MvC2 was the more serious choice there; I just put MUGEN because of all of the memories I have associated with it. KILLER WHALE FTW

MvC2 is a good fighter choice. Most fighting games are a matter of preference and I agree with MUGEN being fun. I could never get a second 360 controller functional for my friends to play with me. Juggy Bitch and Metool own all. Rario is a close second

Let me break down my choices in games to educate (instead of just raging at) Stink.
1. Jak 3: Favorite. Game. Evar. Jak 3 is a game that really has it all. Level based platforming, missions in an entertaining open world, kick-ass vehicle sections, a great story, and many more things that can't exactly be quantified. The game never stops being fun. There's a ton to do, and a ton to unlock (the unlockables are usually worth it). Everything in Jak 3 must be earned, instead of given to you, and some of the unlockables can get pretty attractive after hours of seeking out orbs. I now realize that it's not the end of the series (Jak X was pretty fun, and The Lost Frontier looks cool) but I doubt they'll recapture the feeling I had playing Jak 3. That feeling is why it's at the top.
2. Resident Evil 4: A (literally) very rewarding game. RE4 looks like it is going to be the pinnacle of the Resident Evil series. The gameplay is unconventional compared to third person shooters at the time, but those games don't qualify as "one of the greatest games of all time". The guns are plentiful and usually feel pretty varied from one another. I'm sure all of you know why it's great, but the reason I loved it so much is that I was pretty damn good at it. I didn't get the hand cannon, but I did get the Las Plagas Remover. That took some skill and patience.
3. Majora's Mask: It's dark, it's gritty (I enjoy grittiness), it's Zelda. What's not to love? It's the best direct sequel to a Zelda game. <- say period out loud[/size] I played it before Ocarina of Time and enjoyed more because of the improvements made in the three years between. You can play as four different beings, and the game reacts accordingly. It's also one of the more cinematic Zelda games. What I appriciated most about MM is its sense of maturity. I don't mean in the gore and nudity sense (which MM still has) but in the treatment of the player. A little girl is protecting her undead father at all costs. A drunken theater producer reminisces on his unfulfilled life. Link heals the souls of the heroes that have passed, and takes up the burden they had to carry in life. Link gets to second base (heavily implied).
That is my reasoning for choosing my three favorite games.

1. Audiosurf - It's hard to convey why I love this game in words. It honestly doesn't sound that good: you put in a song, dodge grey blocks, hit colored ones, and go for a high score. There's no epic storyline or complex features to boast about, only simple, tight gameplay. It sounds like the most simple and stupid thing ever, but it's done in such a great way that it becomes extremely addicting. The graphics really complement things, with stuff floating of to the sides, little tunnels going around the track, and blocks and the road changing color depending on the intensity of the song, making you really sink into the experience. Also, as I mentioned, I love listening to music, and Audiosurf makes my songs WAY more fun to listen to. Each track is an experience of it's own, and I'm always excited to try out my new favorite tracks in Audiosurf just to see what it'll be like. I'm constantly finding new great songs, which means I'm constantly finding more reasons to play this game. I love games, I love music, and I LOVE Audiosurf.
MUGEN - FUCK IT THIS GAME'S NOT THAT GOOD

3 - Dragon Quest V
The gameplay of Dragon Quest games is extremely predictable. It's the epitome of the classic Turn Based RPG. But these games do it SO WELL that it literally IS the epitome of it; this series is the best example of how to do a turn based game right. The difficulty is always challenging but never unbeatable. The character and monsters are always creative and well designed (considering they're all by Akira Toriyama it's not that surprising). The spells are actually creative as well; instead of your Final Fantasy "Fire, Fira, Firaga" you get spells like "Frizz, Frizzle, Kafrizzle." Awesome. And that's just in regards to the series as a whole. Why I like this PARTICULAR game so much compared to the others I've played is almost entirely in regards to the story and characters. It's so deep and involving. I talked about this in my review of it in the Review thread, but I was emotionally connected with these little sprites. When something tragic happened, I was sad. When something good happened, I was happy. I don't feel this way about very many games. I never even felt that way about the two games that I rank higher than this. That says something.
2 - Super Mario RPG
This is 50% raging nostalgia, and 50% because it's actually a fantastic game. One of the best looking SNES games in its library, it had amazing music, the locations were all memorable, the bosses were unique and likeable, the plot wasn't your typical Mario fare (at least not for the entire game), the battle system's main draw (Timed Attacks) was far and away more advanced than pretty much any other RPG that had come out for any console at that point, and was apparently an awesome idea because they've kept it around in the 5 Mario RPGs to follow, and all in all the game's just pretty fucking good.
Also, BRING GENO BACK!
1 - Chrono Trigger
I could go into a huge thing (like I've just done twice) but you guys have probably all seen me rant and rave about the game when I was arguing with Dutch Man, the gaming anti-christ, about it. This wasn't a game I played as a kid. I was born in 1990 so I wasn't terribly old when the SNES was in its prime. I was mostly a dumb kid who only ever wanted a game if it had Mario in it, with an exception or two. I discovered the game in I believe either 2004 or 2005, so this has absolutely NOTHING to do with nostalgia like SMRPG. This is purely based on the game's own merits.
Yeah, it's popular and isn't exactly "underrated" but this game's namesake hasn't been oversaturated like Final Fantasy's has. It had the original release, a port to the PSX, a game you could loosely call a sequel, and an enhanced port. THAT'S. IT. Every other popular Square-Enix title from the 90's is being completely REMADE (Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Tactics, Dragon Quest 4, 5, and 6..) but Chrono Trigger didn't get a big graphical overhaul or anything. They gave it a new (optional) interface, a more spruced up translation, and an extra dungeon and ending. Everything they did was basically an ADDITION. They didn't change ANYTHING except some of the somewhat poorly translated script. They're too smart to fuck with it. Not that they carelessly shove out a bunch of Final Fantasies every year to make a quick buck, but that series is pretty heavily marketed. Chrono Trigger is special. You're never going to see "Chrono Dissidia" or "Chrono Trigger: Advent Children."

Brave Fencer Musashi - A game about a young boy samurai who is summoned by a princess to save their kingdom. A really goofy title with solid game play and subtle humor throughout the game.
Dark Cloud 2 - You play as two characters, Max and Monica, as the wielders of ancient crystals known as the Atlimila that allow them to jump forward and back 100 yr. in time respectively. Fixing just about all the combat problems of the first Dark Cloud along with an upgraded Georama system that allows more customization in the towns, this game is just fun.
Xenogears - The story is too Complicated to explain. Turn based RPG with a cool hand to hand combat system and Mechs. just a fun game.

3. Star Wars Battlefront II
Why does this game kick ass? I don't know. There are alot, ALOT of problems with it. From class balance issues, to an idiotic A.I, to the "rewarding" upgrades you can get. Despite all these flaws though, Star Wars Battlefront II somehow manages to be a great game that's fun to play alone, and a blast to play with friends.
*I've reviewed and have given my opinions on Punch Out Wii and Dynasty Warriors 5 in past, so go look at those if you really DO care.*
