I don't have anything against it, so long as you stick to your little communities.
It's simply not fair to pit your sick obsession against casual players.

It was in regards to all this CABLE SENTINEL STORM MAGNETO crap.
Knowing how to abuse certain characters and gameplay mechanics to a point where you are more or less invincible except to someone else obsessive enough to learn and do the exact same thing is just annoying to me.

Well JEEZ. I'm sorry for DISCUSSING WHAT THE TOPIC WAS ABOUT.
We are asked what our preferred team is. We say what our preferred team is. We didn't say "ONLY NOOBERS USE ANYONE ELSE" or "THIS IS THE TRUE WAY TO PLAY." Then, just because Trigger and I (The two competitive fighters on the Megaforum.) state our preferred teams, you go on your own little "competitive players suck" discussion.
WHAT THE HELL.

You're the one that just likes to get offended over this. The only thing I was trying to say is that I find it impossible to have any fun whatsoever playing against teams/players like that.
I have nothing against your god damn "scene" and I'm not trying to insult you. Jesus.

How else am I supposed to interpret you?

I said "fuck the gameplay" because it ruins the game for ME when I have to deal with it. I resent the fact that one of my favorite games can have all the fun sucked out of it by characters and combos of its own inclusion. I'm just as mad at Capcom as I am at any of the players that abuse these functions.
Excuse me for getting a tad frustrated by that fact and using the term "mother fucker". I have a potty mouth. I apologize.
That last statement is true FOR ME, and there's nothing even remotely derogatory about it.

I actually respect when a person can obsess over a game enough to master it completely, inside and out. Despite being no fun to play against them, I am still impressed by their skill.
I only get upset about the lack of balance in these games. That is the game maker's fault more than any competitive player. I know it's inevitable, but I still hate it all the same. The idea that certain characters and combos are so powerful that I would be a fool not to use them just makes my inner gamer feel a little dead on the inside. What is the point in having such a huge character roster full of fun and colorful characters if Magneto and Sentinel are so much "better" naturally?
Where am I supposed to find the fun in copying specific unstoppable playstyles instead of creating my own? I just hate the idea that "if you want to win, there is only one way to play". It makes me feel like a robot. But that doesn't make someone's mastery over it any less impressive.

Thats just simply the truth.. some characters are naturally overpowered to the point of being ridiculous.
However, marvel VS capcom 2 is still great fun to play if you just hit that random button for all chars, and maybe set up certain limits (no supers for example makes the game a lot more challenging).
meh fuck it. Go for turtles.

I'm just a huge fan of Marvel Comics and Capcom games...so having the two kick the living shit out of each other is just plain fun for me.

You know, I honestly gravitated towards those characters naturally. I've played Cable, Doom, CapCom for as long as I can remember.
Marvel was wild back in the day before people started picking the game apart and figuring out what worked and what didn't. You had serious debates about if Spiral or Strider had the best lockdown trap. There were arguments about how Cable was t3h h4x and should be banned. And then people found out Sentinel fastfly/unfly/etc., Magneto ROM, Iron Man infinite, Storm runaway/hailstorm shenanigans, and it all changed.
I'd highly recommend to some of you more casual guys to try to get in on a fighting game on the ground floor, like King of Fighter XII or BlazBlue when they come out. If you get into a game early, when tactics change and (ohgodohgod) tiers become more defined, it seems like a natural progression without losing any of the fun.
Trust me, don't worry about losing. Just play for fun and you'll learn. There's a guy out there, goes by the handle JohnRog, West Coast SFIV player. Never played competitively before this game. Trained, played a lot, and now he places consistently in tourneys. It only took about a month of just playing the game and trying to understand it. When you get there, its so rewarding.

The problem with competitive play is that they kind of ruin fun (not for themselves, but for everyone else). I wanted to play MvC because I could play as Jill from Resident, fighting alongside Mega Man, fighting alongside Venom. Competitive players only make the learning for games that much steeper. It's not bad for those willing to work to get good, but that sort of defeats the point of the whole game aspect of it.
