I was shuffling through a playlist of Get Equipped/Get Acoustic the other day and it got me thinking. What if they ended up doing an acoustic version of History Repeating: Blue? Granted a lot of the songs on History Repeating: Blue have a lot of electronic backing, such as that catchy as hell synth in 'Don't Mess with Magnet Man', which might not translate very well into an acoustic version. I'd still buy it in a heartbeat though. Would you also like to see this album made, or would you rather just see a few acoustic singles?

Oh and sorry if this thread has been done before or if they've mentioned something about this in the past. >.>

EDIT: Forgot to mention, obviously if they were to do an acoustic version they should wait until History Repeating: whatever the fuck color is released.

You'd be surprised how well a piano would sound for King BeDeDe's parts.

I fucking love you so much Jay.

And I completely agree, whether it would be piano, or just a variety of orchestral instruments... I think it would work.
On that note however, the Megas will do it if they feel it a good investment of their time and/or effort.

I would say that the Monsteropolis Orchestra would be up to the challenge.

I seem to remember them mentioning in one of the podcasts (I think the one before last) something about making an acoustic version of the album. I think they said something about how now they have more instruments, experience, ideas, etc. although I don't remember exactly or I could have just misheard them.

If they did end up making it I'd love for it to be called History Acoustic electric boogaloo edition.

Maybe they could take a poll on which tracks from the two albums we'd like to hear played acoustic? That way they don't have to release two more albums but one.

Well at this point, The Megas aren't really spending more money for the albums. Not that making the albums are free, but I'm pretty sure they have all of the equipment that they need now. Everyone who was at the listening party got to see how awesome their recording setup is. Plus, Eric has a pretty firm grasp on the "acoustic album" software. With the addition of King BeDeDe, I'm sure the two of them could crank out a very impressive acoustic album if they wanted to. Also, if they ever did, I would be totally fine with just a digital download of the album. That way they don't have to recover costs from pressing the album and shipping. It would basically be, record the album, upload it, and then profit from it.

Jay C pretty much nails it I think, I mean if they were to just make it a digital download as well as put it up on iTunes then I'm sure they could make a pretty decent profit--probably greater than or equal to if they pressed and shipped a proper CD.

Oh and Megacyan, I second that notion.

Seconding Jay C and MonkeyNamedEric... Definitely could happen and would be awesome. Especially a epic chorus version of "Better not mess with Magnet Man!"

And, though it would at this point be free in terms of cost (which is very nice), we would also have to remember that time is also a valuable asset. It's up to them if the time investment is worth it (I would say so, but that's just me)

While the "free of cost" argument is technically true, we have to take in to account the opportunity cost. With The Megas' careers, they don't have all the free time in the world. When they do something with their free time, there's so many other things that are denied the same time. If they pooled all of their time into History Repeating, there would be no time for anything else, such as playing the video games that inspired them to do it in the first place.

That being said, the prospect of more Megas is infinitely enticing, and I rank among those who would gladly sell their soul for more. I'd much rather have Mauve than Acoustic, and to that effect, I'd rather have Belmonts to Acoustic, though that is extremely far off and unlikely for now.

I agree with all of your ideas. Eric's a pretty damn boss mixer, that's for sure.
...
But in the end, The Megas will carve out their path. They'll choose which way they feel as a full band is the right way to go. Maybe it's the Belmonts. Maybe it's MMX or MM9. Maybe it's an acoustic album. Maybe they're gonna write their own original rock album. Maybe they're gonna do an album based around Cheetahmen II.
Who knows?
And that's the best part.

Not knowing is not the best part. Listening to whatever it is they've chosen to do once they've done it is. Silly Tuberz.

I really hope they do an acoustic album for History Repeating. Get Acoustic still holds the majority of my favorite songs in it, and I know they could drum up something fantastic. If I have to wait another year for it after the 2nd half of HR releases, I'd still be happy.
Of course, they're not going to do any wrong by doing something different, either...
