Went to see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter yesterday. It was alright I guess.

The action scenes were good looking but the movie as a whole got kinda boring after a while.

Just saw Moonrise Kingdom. Magnificent flick.

Saw Ted.

Only 3 flashback scenes, so I was fairly surprised by that.

Spider-Man reboot. Thumbs up. Gets off to a rocky start by refusing to differentiate itself (at all, really) from the original, but it really takes off in the second act and outshines the original in a lot of ways after that.

I wouldn't say it's good enough to replace the first movie, but I think it sits pretty comfortably alongside it.

The highlight, of course, would be the new costume (which I thought I would hate, but it turns out I hate that stupid silver web lining more) and the new cgi/stuntwork. Spidey really moves like a Spider now, and it's just beautiful. Major props to all that, if absolutely nothing else.

I went into that movie pretty skeptical and ALMOST determined to be annoyed by it, but I fell in love about halfway through.

I really hope they don't take half the movie to get at all interesting like the original. In Sam Raimi's Spider-Man the story was just so incredibly boring until the climax. The acting was all around sub-par, The effects were meh even for then, and one of the trilogy's strongest points (the music) was pretty bad. It wasn't until the bridge scene that I really feel the movie realized how to be good.

I don't know what to think of the new suit. I've yet to see it in action so I'll probably change my mind. But I've had it as my phone backround for a month or two now and I just don't like the way it looks. Especially the way it conforms to his body... Though I suppose that's Andrew's fault for having such an incredibly slight build.
I heard an interview on AOTS and Marc Webb really pressed how awesome the visual effects and stunts were going to be. He said every moment they could do an effect traditionally he did his best to make it happen. So I'm really looking forward to that.

How'd you see it early?

I wouldn't say it takes HALF the movie, but like I said, the first "act" (which I'd guess is maybe a third or fourth of the film's running time) is just as boring as Raimi's. Worse, because the acting is even worse in some parts, and the characters take a long time to grow on you. Also, the fact that they straight up mirrored (poorly!) a lot of the origin's major points makes it all the more painful to watch. But once they get all the obligatory shit out of the way, things really pick up.

You'll love the stunts. Hands down.

I managed to see it early because I work at a movie theater, and we get to pre-screen stuff every week.

Yeah, my friend from the Philippines has seen it and she said the actors were "weird". Casting Emma Stone as Gwen was a horrible idea, I think. I hope she ends up dying like in the comics. :D

If it's anything like Spider-Man 2 I'm sure I will. I get goosebumps just thinking about that movies action sequences. Whether they be CG-I or practical.

You lucky do--er... You lucky fox!

I'm not familiar enough to know whether she makes an accurate comic book Gwen, but she's infinitely more likeable (and believable) than Kirsten Dunst was. Also rawr ;) The relationship dynamic was surprisingly well done, imo.

That being sad, I'd love to see her die. That's damn good drama.

Seeing as every trailer I saw had them making out a lot... No. I've never read any of the Old Spidey comics when she was still alive. But from what I know she's absolutely nothing like her movie counterpart. But perhaps that's a good thing. Sticking so close to the source material can lead to boredom.

I miss being able to do that whenever I want. I was a movie theater manager. What movie chain? National Amusments? Rave?

I've actually never heard of either of those. It's actually a pretty local thing. Doesn't extend too far out of Utah, as far as I know. Megaplex.

Ah. Yeah I used to work for a big movie theater chain. Was National Amusements but the theater got sold to Rave so I learned about other movie theater companies by force *laughs* Not to mention, when you're a manager you get called over a lot when people bring in gift cards for the wrong theater chain. I normally just passed 'em through anyway.

I heard they're making a trilogy out of that. Will it be able to stand alone as a one without being too closely related to the first trilogy?

Recently saw Spiderman myself actually and it was very well made. The action sequences were fun. I'm sure it's building up for a big Venom showdown in the third movie. But not in the way they built it up in that horrible thing I refuse to call a movie.
