I think multiplayer didn't take off for the 64 version because shit, people had been playing the multiplayer for over two years on pc online. The multiplayer was so successful it had online tournament with prizes and basically started the MLG that we know today. The game was fun. I won't say the multiplayer was better than Goldeneye because in my eyes, they're equal, but the Duke was here first.

Also, by "story" do you mean "single player campaign", or the actual plot? Because fuck plot, it's a goddamn fps.

I mean single player campaign. Goldeneye's story was based off the movie and Duke is just a guy rescuing babes, so both don't really have much of a story, but I loved the gameplay of it with all it's gags and one liners. It's what makes the Duke the fucking Duke!

FF7 by leaps and bounds for most overrated.
I was spoiled and grew up on the US released FF games before it. I had enjoyed 1, 2(4), and 3(6) for years, and when I saw a commercial for 7 on TV I was overjoyed. Talk about a let down. I was expecting characters with a modicum of depth (like Cecil or Terra), morally ambiguous situations, time-bending world-shattering villains like Chaos and Kefka. Instead I got...7.
7 was like playing through a kid's anime. It was like stepping away from Evangelion to watch Dragon Ball Z. Anticlimactic like a busted condom. It was fun, it resembled the earlier FF games in a lot of ways, but damn...the story was thin, the dialogue was shit, the love story...lol...the best part of FF7 was that Cloud was a badass unit in FFT.
I wouldn't say 7 is a terrible game by any stretch, there are worse in the series (anything after 8 comes to mind) let alone outside of it. But the sheer number of people squeeing over FF7 being TEH BEST GAME EVAR when it simply isn't, is phenomenal, and that's what makes it overrated.
