YES, it does make you want to split your controller in half, but that's part of it.

When I first played it, I was a thief and just got trashed the whole time. I spent forever just leveling up my character so he could beat those two gargoyles and then tried to go below where the ghosts are. I rented the game for like five days and that's as far as I got. If it requires that much time to be able to play it as the thief, I kinda don't want to invest that much time in it, especially with all the damn grinding. Plus I couldn't even play it in a thief's play style. I had to get a katana to be able to do any damage to enemies, so that also killed it for me.

I think it's probably just your play style that's got you thinking that. Your actual level and starting class mean very little in the game, as it's more about weapon choice (and whether or not it's been upgraded correctly) and positioning. You aren't really supposed to handle the area with the ghosts in it until much later, after you've opened up the teleportation ability.

Beating the gargoyles was one of the greatest things so far for me in this game.

Well, you kind of are fucked if you don't have that much strength to wield heavy weapons and focus most of your points on dexterity for better backstabs and critical hits plus the bow. I probably picked the hardest class to play as in this game where a heavy armored melee fighter would've probably made it much easier. I guess not playing demon souls before hand didn't give me a heads up of how frustratingly difficult this game would be. I don't mind steep learning curves, hell, ninja gaiden does an awesome job of that, but I never got super pissed at it like I did with this game.

I never played Demon's Souls either. And dexterity doesn't really increase "crit" damage because you have to land a Backstab or riposte for crit damage. My recommendation would be go back to the bridge with the drake and pick up the claymore and rock shit with that.

I just feel like I don't have the time for it, but then again, I just beat Arkham Asylum and that's been out for months, so maybe sometime down the road, but I'll probably start over as someone else, games too hard for a thief.

I think I'm finally about half way. I just killed Sif and am about to head into Sen's Fortress.

You don't need to kill Sif for like, another 3 or 4 major bosses. Good work.
