Yes.
YES.
FUCK. YES.
The music is rad as balls too.

They might have managed to make one of the best water levels in a video game but that doesn't mean I want a bunch more of it. It's still a water level.

(It does have the best music though.)

I tend to forget that, since it lets you RUN ON TOP OF IT so much, and a lot of the more memorable moments are above ground. But I suppose that's a fair point.

Still, I wonder what that would have been like as opposed to the underwater segments of Seaside Hill, which were every bit as dated and aggravating as an old-school water level.

I didn't think the underwater stuff in Seaside Hill was that bothersome. Hell if you're taking the top path you never see it (like in basically every Sonic 1-3&K water level except Labyrinth).

Well yeah, I agree (same with MOST of Aquarium Park too). But once you fall down there, it's all slow and frustrating. Not any WORSE than a classic game, but definitely more tedious than it was in Colors.

EDIT: I guess Colors wasn't as bad because of the game's controls more so than the level design, so now that I'm thinking about it, any water level from any game would still be just as slow and annoying for Classic Sonic.

If it meant that they took out Seaside Hill as the obligatory water level for Aquarium Park and instead put a different Hereos level, then perhaps.

Because FUCK YEAH EGG FLEET

I could go on forever about all the tropes and levels I wish had been included, but the one I still can't get over is the lack of a "final level".

I know there isn't really a way to do that with the way they divided up all the stages (and the order they put them in), but something just feels WRONG without a big nasty mechanical last level. Minecarts on Planet Wisp SO don't cut it.

Egg Fleet would've been great.

Asteroid Coaster was a pretty good "final level" I thought. Aside from Terminal Velocity which is more of a spectacle than an actual level.

And so we come back to: they should have chosen something else from Sonic Colors besides Planet Wisp, lol.

I'd be down for Asteroid Coaster. Seeing that level expanded and with tightened physics? Yes PLEASE. I can already picture how they'd do a lot of the classic sections too, what with all those gravity rooms.

Why didn't SEGA just ask you guys to come up with the levels.
You've put some real thought into this.
Egg Fleet shit yeah! I would LOVE Egg Fleet.

Willing to bet it's just because you did poorly on it.

The level looks terrible, has shitty music, and has the cheapest kills.

The last 3 levels were all not that great compared to the rest of the game imo.

Classic crisis city was ok modern was decent, Classics unleashed level was terrible but the modern vesion is one of the best levels in the game, and planet wisp sucked

Still think it would have been a better idea to just re-do ONLY classic levels.

The whole "one level from each game to ensure fairness to the entire series history" is cute in theory, but I think it really held the game back. Even the good levels from the DC/modern era didn't really NEED the update, and there were SO many more classic zones more worthy, even if they were less "iconic".

I suppose that's all just a matter of opinion, but I just felt like even the best levels from DC/modern didn't really wow me as much as the Genesis makeovers.

Rooftop Run Modern was the shit.
And I hope they bring out legitimate DLC.
This also reminds me... I signed up for two tracks on a Sonic OCR Project.
I'm on with TheGuitahHeroe if that means anything to anyone... he's really good.
