So I'm pretty sure a lot of you know this by now but I buy a lot of fucking games because they're cheap. Like, GODDAMN. For every one game I play through, I buy at least four more before I'm done. This is getting insane. I own almost one hundred games that I haven't beaten yet. So you know what? It's time for me to get some motivation. I rearranged my whole goddamn living area just so I have far easier access to my consoles and now I'm going to work my way through this massive blockage of vidya.
Why am I making this thread? Because fuck you, that's why. Just hoping to spark up discussion to keep me going, I guess. I'm going to hit the random button on that Backloggery page and let you guys know what I'm playing and everyone's free to discuss it here. Or you can just call me a lazy slob with more money than attention and be on your way. Don't really give a shit.
So let's see what I'm playing first, shall we?
Alright, starting things off with a classic. Hard to believe I've never beaten this before, huh? This is just one of those games I never owned as a child. I've rented it and borrowed it from friends but I haven't finished it in any of those playthroughs. First and third DKC? Yeah, beat 'em. Looks like it's time to round out the trilogy.

When will you consider a game ''beaten''?
Beating a game sometimes require more than beating the final boss/level.
For example: StarFox 64 has 2 different endings and more than 2 ways to reach the end. In most 3D Mario, you can beat bowser without getting all the stars (same for DK64).
Anyhow, good luck on your thumb marathon and I hope you don't have alot of RPGs (cuz they're long).

Right now, I just want to hit "beaten" status for all the games. All this really entails is seeing the end credits. If it's a short game and I like it enough, I'll go for 100% completion.

I would say beating the game is getting to the ending. "Completing" a game has a separate choice, for %100 finishing a game (I.E. Getting the Gold armor in Mega Man X3 or beating MM10 with all 3 characters.)

People complain about DK64 being a shit game, but almost all of those people are ones who attempted, or DID, 100% it. I never tried that in my life and I enjoyed the game.

I don't really understand the point of backloggery. I have games. I play those games. That's how I roll.
What N64 game do I want to play through again? Majora's Mask. What else? FUCKING NOTHING.

Give your opinion on this one:
Over the years, i've seen my brother beat a tone of games from beginning to end. I had no controller and he wouldn't let me play before I was old enough to buy my own.
I helped him solve most puzzles. I was like his second brain. He was the body, I was the mind. He was Link, I was Navy. He was Snake, I was Otacon. You get the point.
My question is: Can I say i've beaten those games even if I wasn't the one with the controller?

Do you feel comfortable with missing out on the actual part of beating the game? Helping with puzzles is alright, a lot of people do that but do you feel the sense of accomplishment after that game is beaten? I'm not trying to sound douchey because I would count that on some levels.

Good point
I guess I do feel comfortable for some because most games are easy as s**t when you know what to do or where to go.
I beat Portal 2 in coop and it did felt the same as beating Sonic 2 and 3 with Tails and almost the same as shooting stars with a second controller in Mario Galaxy.(almost)
Actually, I think that the main reason, why i couldn't beat some games by myself, was that they were and still are only in english. We played mostly RPGs and at the time, neither of us could read the text. We knew some words like sword and shield but that wasn't enough. Puzzles and NPC indications were the hardest parts so I had to come out with ideas every 10 seconds. *my childhood in 4 sentences* hahaha!

Hahaha Yes, he was, but i sucked at games and he gave me his Legos in exchange. He had a shitload of them! Cowbox wrote: First and third DKC? Yeah, beat 'em. I beat DKC 1 and 3 but I never liked DKC2.
I don't know why.
