It did seem like reviewers came down on it oddly harshly. It's by no means a good game, but from what I've played so far it's more of an average game than a TWO OUT OF TEN WORST GAME EVER. It's probably just the disappointment of this not being the guns-blazing action-packed return-to-form old-school game the developers were promising.

yeah i agree it should have been a better game with how long it took to develop. but then again, twelve years of stuff can seem out dated as well. like with res 4, it took four years but it was still keeping up with the times. idk, i guess i played it hoping for some good laughs and firefights and thats what i got, especially as shrunk duke.

This is why franchises work in videogames. After building the engine and hiring a good staff, creating something from the ground up again is just a waste of time when you could turn around and release a profitable product.

In the wake of Duke Nukem Forever not actually being that good, I decided to finally try Postal 2. It's surprisingly fun for how poorly reviewed it was, and I actually found it legitimately funny at some points. I'd recommend it if you're into that sorta thing.

I've played some goofy-spoofy shooty bang-bang games before. Most of them just make me feel kind of dirty for playing them. Serious Sam didn't really age well, neither has Timesplitters 2 (though I still love it).

What's with the love for terrible games lately? I haven't played Duke, but I have played Deadly Premonition; meaning that I will never take any of Stink's recommendations ever again.

I'm fine with less serious games. Bulletstorm has very funny moment of levity, and the whole game was a weird mix of goofiness built around very good gameplay mechanics. In Just Cause, I can do the craziest shit whenever I feel like it.

I don't view a games as something that I would just waste time on for a cheap laugh, because they're expensive and that kind of humor doesn't really jive with me. Portal 2 is a phenomenal game, and it's also funny. That's usually the order of what I look for in a game (quality -> levity). I'll make an exception for Telltale.

Oh God Shadows of the Damned was so good.

Really wish it had a new game + mode cause it has the same system as RE4 with upgrading (sort of).

Either way it's awesome. Lots O' dick jokes too.
