Well I don't agree with this sentiment at all, personally. I've just heard bad things about the Evangelion dub in particular.

Unless they horribly butcher translation or something, I'd go with a dub. I'd rather watch the show than the bottom inch of the screen.
But then again I don't really have a say in this.

The way I find it... subs are the best in most cases.
If you can find a bearable dub though, go for it.
I hate females in dubs. But I watched Death Note dubbed and really enjoyed it. Because they were only males.

You can either watch it with English people trying to make the same 3-4 voices that don't match the lip sync, or watch it with Japanese people making the same 3-4 voices that don't match the lip sync and not understand a thing. This is every anime ever.

I hate the close-minded sentiment that weeaboos have of every single dub being bad. You saying "bearable" makes you just as bad, by implying that there are no truly great dubs.
As much as it may make me sound like a tool to specifically back one company, Funimation is pretty much top of the line. Their dubs are fucking incredible, because of how much care they put into making sure the translations retain their original meaning while actually making a good english script.
If a dub used a fansub for its script, it would sound hella awkward in english because fansubs are translated much more literally than dubs are, and you tend to see a lot of common phrases in japanese shows and anime that you don't hear in english.
That and they usually match a fitting voice actor to the character. Even if you don't think their voice fits, the actors themselves are always good and most of the time you can get used to it. Listen to DBZ Kai, either Full Metal Alchemist series, One Piece, Soul Eater, it's all very well done.
Obviously there are shitty dubs out there, like 4kids' original butchery of One Piece as well as basically anything they do, and most of Viz's stuff ranges from barely acceptable to downright awful.
I ask about Evangelion because I've specifically heard from Rocco and Garrett of Mega64 that the Eva dub is terrible, and looking at the wiki article for the series I see some company I've never heard of licensed it over here.

That reminds me, I found a channel that was showing old episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh and Dragon Ball Z this morning. They were still on namek.

Obviously you misinterpreted what I said or I phrased it wrong or something.
Bearable meaning you can enjoy the show for what it is without someones voice screwing it up. That simply means that would be a good dub because there are no problems.
Anyway I said that I loved the Death Note one.
That obviously goes against your argument anyway.
Let's just drop it. It's not worth it. There will always be disagreements.

I miss spending 3 or 4 pages of Tubes defending his original statements.
I'd rather watch a dub. I don't watch enough anime to watch shitty dubs. Basically a lot of mainstream stuff here.

Aw shit, you saw that too? It was cool to wake up this morning to see Yugi and Kaiba dueling in the colosseum.

YTV? I watch that with my roommate all the time. Granted the DBZ episodes is actually the new DBZKai remake, but that's where they are in the series.

I agree with you fully. Granted, I've hardly watched anime, the little bit of Darker than Black I've seen is very impressive (Dubbing was done by Funimation). I also have a year of Japanese language behind me. I watched some of the original japanese, and the translations are very meaning focused, which is always harder but much more rewarding.
Additionally, I watched some commentary by some of the voice actors, and they have a really cool system for the voice acting, and it turned out really well.
With the little bit I've seen, I've been pleased. Translation is never perfect, so I don't expect perfection. I always go for understanding, so I'm in favor of watching dubs in a language you can understand. Perhaps in a few more years, I'll be able to watch in japanese and understand it well. But for now, good dubs are good.
