Hi all, I just released my chiptune album over at Bandcamp. It's 12 tracks, and 40 odd minutes long. I'm only selling it for $5. I implore you to at least take a look at it, and stream the tracks for free. This album has been in the works for wee while now, and I'm here to show off my last six months work. http://tuberzmcgee.bandcamp.com/Enjoy folks.

Thanks brosephs. The artwork is fucking phenomenal! I can't believe that dude did it from scratch! And hell yeah! Someone tweeted my album! NOT JUST SOMEONE IT WAS COMM I get the badass approval. Johnny, I hope you enjoy it dude. And guys, feel free to give me feedback. I'm planning on follow up releases. Also, all proceeds from the album go towards MAGfest. I'll try to play a show at MAGfest if possible.

I'm about halfway through it right now and it's... pretty good. I GUESS.
The only real criticism I have is that some of the tracks could stand to be in the 1:30-2:30 minute range instead of the 3-4 minute range.
Oh and the song names are all super douchey sounding. Like something off a Homestuck album.

Ah, I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the feedback dude. Is it just the repetitive nature of them? Or is just that you would prefer shorter songs? The names don't need to be cool.

There's a couple of spots where it's sort of more background-ey and ambient (relatively speaking) while it slightly builds to a tone shift, and I feel like those bits go on a little too long for my liking. But then again I'm used to super catchy and quickly paced stuff when it comes to chiptunes so I may not be the best judge on that front. edit: oops

Nah. That's completely understandable. Maybe next time around I'll pull a Megadeth and have a million and one riffs in a song to lose the repetitiveness. Haha

I'm the exact opposite of Jacky-T on song lengths. Personally, I love long songs. I'm not saying making every song 2112 or anything, but if you make a fantastic song and it's also long, I'd probably fuck it. And that's the best compliment I could give.

Awesome. Everyone post what their favourite track on the album is. I'm quite curious. Also, I'm thinking of doing a Kickstarter for MAGfest. What do you guys think of these incentives:
Tuberz McGee to MAGfest JAMspace Kickstarter Incentive Ideas
$5 – Awesome Hugs and A Feeling of Excite $15 – A physical press of Discordant Existence! Plus Hugs Tiem $20 – A physical Press of Discordant Existence with your name in the thanks. Also, your hugs are upgraded to Cuddles. $25 – All of the previous incentives plus you get to choose a cover song for me to play live, which will be put into a raffle and three will be chosen at the end. These three will be the three covers I play during that show, outside of my planned set. $35 – Your choice of a Cover in Chiptune (Recorded) $40 – An original Chiptune of the purchaser’s desire $55 – An Original Chiptune AND a Cover of your choice $65 – Original Chiptune AND Cover of your choice PLUS Physical press of Discordant-Existence

Why do the hugs and cuddles end at $25?

Only a few songs in. I can tell that you don't play the bass. I don't mean to say that as a bad thing but you should definitely try to vary it up like this or this. Theory wise the bass is one of the most important instruments because it lays the foundation for the melody but you can also leave it at that. Have the bass establish the root at the start of the beginning of a measure and just let it run wild. Come up with your own melody and drop it to the proper octave.

Hugs and Cuddles shouldn't end at $25... in fact $100 and you're gettin' into smooch territory.
As for the Bass stuff, I can play bass and I know how to phrase like that and such. I did it in SOME places. It's just not how I write my music. :/ I might in the future, but you never know.

Ah. Since I pretty much only play bass these days I go STRAIGHT to the bass lines in chiptunes.
