so what exactly do you do for the editing of reality tv? do you use computer programs like adobe after effects or something else?

Heh... I guess that depends on the show. MTV shows - all scripted. I worked on a dating show for them and they did retakes of stuff, told them what to talk about etc. As far as what I use, it's mostly Avid. I use After Effects for some things, like compositing and graphics, but I'm not that good at it yet (Eric rules though, he's teaching me). Some places use Final Cut Pro, but almost all the work I get is on Avid.
