Hello guys, what do you prefer? Anime or cartoons? Comics or manga?

Personally, I prefer anime over cartoons because I can name way more anime I love than cartoons I like. Plus, cartoons, for the most part, really suck now (Just look at the bullshit on Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network, etc. Fish Hooks? Fagboy and Cum Cum? Johnny Test?)

Futurama, South Park, and American Dad are the only cartoons I care about nowadays. However, I still prefer anime like Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Trigun, etc. to them.

Some people often say "Well duh you don't find cartoons funny, you're not a kid anymore," which is stupid because I still find some cartoons funny. Even cartoons for kids, like SpongeBob (Older episodes, which by the way I do not enjoy for nostalgic reasons since they weren't even out when I was a child), Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats, etc.

The action and plots of anime 9 times out 10 are way better than pretty much any cartoons. Even back when cartoons were more action-oriented than comedy-oriented (I.E. Batman, Thundercats, G.I. Joe, X-Men, Spider-Man, etc.), pretty much any Shonen Jump anime kicks its ass.

Also anime chicks are undeniably 1,000,000x hotter than cartoons chicks.

As for comics vs. manga, I haven't read many comics for a LONG time, and I am subscribed to the Shonen Jump magazine. Therefore I don't think it would be fair for me to compare these two.

Welcome to the forums where I'm never gonna stop making fun of you for this.

But I'm gonna go ahead and say anime (more often than not) doesn't cross the cultural boundary that entertains me. I know North American cartoons aren't exactly universal, but they resonate better with me.

And I only read a few comics. Ultimate Spider-Man, Cable and Deadpool, and my favorite serial so far has been The Goon.

EDIT: and don't talk shit about Batman or Justice League. American action cartoons are fucking great because they don't tailend every attack with and explanation of its name, what it does, and how it was so fucking awesome. Batman just punches fools. Or the Flash runs at high speed and destroys Brainiac. And that Spider-Man/Venom fight was better than than crappy staircase video for a variety of reasons that involve subtlety and substance.

I'm probably the biggest proponent of anime here, and even I think you're full of shit. For every Cowboy Bebop and Gurren Lagann, there's a Chobits and an Inuyasha, as well as hundreds more that aren't nearly as popular but are just as bad (or worse). Good animes will generally get some sort of positive attention and word of mouth, but there's also a lot of people with bad taste who do the same thing with the bad ones.

Western cartoons are no better or worse than Anime, it all depends on your taste and whether or not you've actually got a good one.

Plus don't talk shit on Batman that will get you fucking lynched 'round these parts.

Yeah, there are good (and bad) things from both. I'm much more interested in the actual thing rather than what genre/style it is.

Case in point: Pokemon. It's an anime because it's from Japan, but for all effective purposes of my childhood, it operated the exact same way as a cartoon.

I never insulted Batman, it's probably my favorite cartoon (I actually would put it in my top 10 shows of all time list), I just said as a whole that I prefer anime action scenes to cartoon action scenes. Yeah, sometimes it drags on, but it's never really that bad. Well, except with Drag-on Ball Z, but DBZK fixes that problem.

And I know that there are a lot of bad anime, but honestly, I'd watch Chobits or Naruto Shippuden 100x before watching the Penguins of Madagascar or some other ridiculous crap on Nick nowadays.

Actually, I don't like the show because it's just not really funny. It's not horrible, but none of the jokes really stand out, the episodes feel like they're 30 minutes long when really they're 11 minutes long, watching the show honestly feels more like a chore than a way to be entertained.

AND I LIKED SF2 ON THE SNES I JUST DIDN'T PLAY IT MUCH ON THE ARCADE BECAUSE I LIKED MORTAL KOMBAT AND KILLER INSTINCT BETTER!!!!
