I'm currently reading the Hunger Games Trilogy. I'm working 9 hour shifts for 7 days straight and having something fast paced to read helps me not want to slit someones throat.

I'm going through about one a day so far (Starting and probably finishing the last book today) and they aren't too bad. It's a balance between Fighting/Politics/Romance and I think there could be a bit less romance, but it's legitimately about kids brutally killing each other. I'm annoyed at how I see the love triangle forming and can see how it's going to be exploited in the movies though. I dread seeing "Team Peeta" "Team Gale" Tshirts and bumper stickers... But since I'm just putting in about 6 hours a day on the books and they help distract me, I really can't complain.

Also, it seems the movie is going to have a pretty bad ass cast... So I'll probably still watch it...

TL;DR: 70% Battle Royal, 15% Twilight, 15% 1984. 6.5/10.

You forgot x% Lord of the Flies

NECRO!

Has anyone read the Dresden Files? The new book was freaking amazing. If you haven't you really need to get on that shit.

There is this book called "Fragment" that is reminiscent to Michael Crichton's style of writing without it actually being Michael Crichton. It's got sci-fi, action/adventure, blood and awesome descriptions of attacks and stuff, and it's just a blast to read. I highly recommend it.

And for those who like real life biographies, "Chinese Cinderella" is actually an extremely interesting read. I sympathized with the main character and really followed her throughout the whole story; I looked her up later and learned more about her because it was so enthralling.

I'm reading through the A Song of Ice and Fire series right now. Gonna read the whole thing and watch the show. I'm loving it so far. About three hundred pages into the third book.

My wife loves that series. I was gonna try to buy her the graphic novel prequels for Christmas but they are all out of print and cost upwards of $100 each for used copies.

Martin is so cruel to so many of the characters. At first I hated Sansa Stark, but now I just feel really sorry for her. And some part of me really wants to like Daenerys, but I just can't do it. I just can't.

I've read a few books. How do you pronounce that? Bukes, bachs, bo-ok? It's a dated form of entertainment and I still mispronounce macabre every time I say it out loud.

The Twelve, it's the sequel to the viral vampire apocalypse epic The Passage. It's a good read but the climax is a little... shitty.

I also started reading the admiral Thrawn trilogy, but that's gonna get retconned so fuck that noise.

Nearly done with Northanger Abbey. I'm not really into Jane Austen as a general rule, but this one is hilarious.

I've been told that Karen Traviss writes some decent clone-based Star Wars stories. I'll give some of those a read, because they probably not getting retconned.

They were already retconned when The clone wars show came out. Her books glorify the mandalorians as a still warrior race and the show depicts them as peace loving wussies. And the show is what's considered canon.

Canon doesn't count if canon is stupid. The cooler version is always the right one!

Well, whatever. I do watch the show (though a little behind know), but I thought the Republic Commando Delta Squad was featured in the intro of an episode. I miss those dudes.

I've actually grown to dislike anything by Karen Traviss. I also seem to be disliking any books based on an established license. So I don't read star wars books anymore. Nor do I read the halo books which are becoming necessary to understand anything in the game.
