Okay so here's the plan.
Amazing Spidey 2 features Mysterio just because he's awesome. Norman Osborne is introduced and near the end of the movie he gets a cure for his unnamed illness, the post credits scene is him injecting it or w/e. #3 is Green Goblin time, big payoff, etc.
THEN: A time space hole opens up and Lizard, Mysterio, and Green Goblin, in their prime, pop out. Another one appears and out of this one comes Doc Ock, Sandman, and Venom, from the previous movies.
BAM! Sinister Six motherfucker. THE TWO SPIDER-MEN MUST TEAM UP AND FIGHT THE EVIL SUPERGROUP!
At some point Tobey Spidey talks about Mary Jane and Amazing Spidey has no idea who the hell that is and asks if Tobey Spidey is a stoner, hilarity ensues because that's the scene they use for the advertisements.

And no, I don't think any of that stuff is a big deal. He probably just stole a couple of the web pellets when he was hanging out with Connors. For the record, I don't think any of it is a big deal either. Like I said, I have no idea why I decided to focus my nitpicking so hard in this thread, because I genuinely enjoy the movie. A lot. I'm still not sure I agree that GG's on par with any of those villains. Maybe he is in the comics, but I haven't read enough of those to know. But in most of the media I've seen, there are plenty of other villains that are not only more nemesis like, but also more suited to being movie villains. I think Scorpion could fill out a movie better than Lizard did. He's not the greatest villain, but movies don't have the time to give proper buildup for bigger villains like Kingpin (or even to flesh out GG enough to make him seem like a Joker-level nemesis), and I still feel that a Lizard movie would have been a million times cooler if they'd introduced Connors and his relationship to Parker in a previous film BEFORE making him a villain. Just better writing technique. I think the Scorpion would fit quite nicely alongside the Jonah character which would give EVERYONE more substance and tie the whole cast together. This would have worked a lot better in Raimi's universe, obviously, but I'm just spitballing here. Unfortunately, Hobgob can't really be done without hitting up GG, but I still feel like no matter how "important" he is, I can't imagine there's a whole lot that can be done with him in a single film to make a brand new movie that doesn't feel like a tired waste of potential. I dunno, maybe they'll wow and surprise me like they did with the first film (had pretty low expectations, going in). UNTIL THEN, I'm still crossing my fingers for Mysterio. EDIT: Not that this would happen in a million years, but I was watching the cartoon the other day and thought Smythe's spider-slayers would work well in a movie. Could also use that story arc to introduce Kingpin AND Osborn, and it'd make for some bitchin' fight scenes and give Spidey more opportunity to make fourth wall wisecracks

Smythe was used in the Amazing Spider-Man video game. Most likely removing him from the list of upcoming baddies this movie continuity. But you're right. He would have been perfect.
Scorpion could also be used to get Spider-Man connected to S.H.I.E.L.D.. essentially wrapping him into the rest of the Marvel movie mythos. I actually like that idea. And I don't know enough Scorpion backstory to say if he'd make a well fleshed out villain.
Thinking about it. Scorpion makes perfect sense for ASM2. Introduces the Bugle, Jameson and Osborn very well. Leading to the big bang in 3 with GG.

He's a perfect movie villain. Shallow enough to be a justifiable threat without being an over the top tryhard like Lizard (change ALL the humans!). You can focus more on one-on-one battles (again, making more opportunities for Spidey banter), and it'd keep the film from getting too pretentious and losing sight of its characters. Can also use his more personal nature as a villain solely intent on fucking with spider-man to put Gwen in danger a bunch, building up her and Parker's relationship while bringing up more questions about whether she's really safe before GG kills her in Episode 3 (finally realized a way to make a worthwhile GG movie).

People who don't know Gwen's gonna die are going to be so upset.

But isn't that comic book cover one of the most famous images next to the death of Superman?

Ask that question to the youth of today. They'll probably ask "Cover? Spider-Man was one of those... things.. that had, like, words in it?" (Youth being like 10 to 16. The next generation... uuugh)

Well I didn't start collecting comic books till a few years ago and I'm 25. I did however, spend countless hours at the library reading the ones that were maybe five or six put together ever since I can remember. Comics may seem childish, but there's very few I've ever read that didn't deal with adult situations, minus maybe the Sonic ones, but they were still pretty good. Comic book shops are still in business, so I gotta believe there's still kids and adults out there buying em, that or going to there to LARP, play Magic the Gathering, or Yugioh. That stuff is a fun time as well.
