I always liked that scene from MM7 as well, especially since it showed the possibility of some more character development for the game series as a whole. Wish they had continued with it.

This whole post is spoilers just FYI
Secret of Mana: At the end of the game when the Sprite fades away.
Secret of Evermore: At the end of the game when everyone is standing around trying to figure out how to adapt to the future.
Final Fantasy X: When Titus fades away
Blast Corps: When you go to the effing moon!
I'm also a big fan of a lot of the previously mentioned stuff as well.

In Dark Souls, the end to the Siegmeyer and Solaire quest lines. Two of the only friendly NPCs in game and the way they play out is crazy. And guilty.

Majora's Mask when you remind one of the Gorman bros gettin' drunk on milk of his entry into the music business.

Some of my greatest gaming moments is simply beating a game I couldn't/didn't from my childhood. Megaman X was among these. When I was younger, this game was so hard for me, and the only boss I could beat was Chill Penguin! Everything else was so hard for me that I just ragequit forever. I did enjoy that intro stage song though.
Sometime last year, I decided to buy the X collection for PS2. An overwhelming wave of nostalgia smothered me as I was met with the amazing music that really took me back(Also, the inclusion of the word "Damn!" in X's monologue after Zero saves him from Vile was an interesting surprise!) Anyway, I realized the game wasn't that hard now that I was older and my attention span was greater than that of a six or seven year old. Beating the game, after I couldn't for so long, I felt very accomplished.
Other games I beat within the last few years that I never beat as a kid were Super Mario RPG and A Link to the Past(ohh, I can feel the shunning now..!).
And I have to say the absolute best moment for me in gaming is the final boss fight in EarthBound, which is my all-time favorite game.

I sort-of agree. When I was a kid, the game bored me to death, which is why I never really got far in it. I'd save Zelda, get out of the castle, then fuck about Kakariko until I didn't know what else to do and turn the game off.
Beating it when I got older gave me a sense of accomplishment, but still, for the most part, the game bored me still. I liked the story and all, but...meh.

Don't get me wrong, I love that game, but it's way harder than it has any right to be.

Link to the Past is the best Zelda game.
If you disagree you fucked up. Flat out.
Also what parts of that game are hard? It's seriously one of the easiest Zelda games.
