This is about those games that people are all like "It's fucking amazing" but when you finally go play it, you just think "What the fuck were they smoking when they tried this, it sucks!" Though when you go to play it again after a while maybe because a friend forced you too. You find it is really fucking good, as good as you heard. And then you love the game and play it lots or something.
(AKA Good games that just left a really bad first impression)
For me, I might of said Skyward Sword, except I haven't played it a second time and got to the "man, this is way better than I expected" part.

Lol Skyward Sword stays bad. Trust me on this one.
Earthbound was like that. I hated it. But now I love it. Fallout 3 did that to me, too. That's it for me. I love almost every game I play...

My brother beat Bioshock when it first came out and I thought it was stupid. And then I got it for $3 on Steam and IT CHANGED MY LIFE.

Yeah, I felt the same way, because really, as a game, Earthbound isn't all that good. I mean you're just entering commands into a static screen, where's the fun in that? But as an experience, Earthbound is a truly amazing journey worth playing through. Earthbound is actually my favorite Nintendo franchise.

Lol. I feel like you were using that as a point to say Chrono Trigger is better. I actually hate all the moving around in Chrono is unnecessary. And when you're trying to level up the enemies don't come back unless you leave the area. That may seem minor but it's really damn annoying to me.

But CT really doesn't need that much leveling up unless you plan on taking down Lavos the first chance you get (Unlike Earthbound which requires more than a bit of grinding, but at least when your level is high enough you automatically take down some enemies, right?). Also, most people I know are happy about the fact there are no random encounters- it allows you to skip some annoying random battles if you know the layout and where the enemies spawn. The fact they don't respawn unless you leave and go back is awesome, if you ask me.

Guess it's just me. Also you can easily get away from battles in Earthbound.
So to reverse this thread. A game I loved but then hated later. Pokemon Ruby. The graphics are super outdated looking. The music's like nails on a chalkboard.. Uninteresting Pokemon. The only thing I like is the story. Crystal and Yellow are still awesome, though. Could play that forever.

You don't need to grind in Chrono Trigger. Ever.

Which is what makes it bad. There's more issues. Like shitty graphics even for their time. But I can say I haven't played enough to have a good verdict. But this boss kicks my butt and I can't level up because there's no enemies near my level. I don't know why but it kills each of my team mates in two hits. And I'm positive I'm in the right place.

Is difficulty really a problem for you? You're probably fighting either Lavos or Spekkio.
Also, the graphics don't suck. They're nice and colorful (I really like the enemies' spries), and they're definitely better than almost every other RPG on the SNES.

"Shitty graphics" what Like, what? I realize that sort of thing is subjective but what?? I don't know what you're doing wrong because Chrono Trigger is not a hard game and unless you're skipping a ton of fights then you shouldn't need to grind. What boss is it?

Environments are bland, even the 'colorful' ones. The enemies are all the same with different colors. The character sprites don't look all too much like who they are. In the future it's hard to tell where you can and can't walk.
I'm actually still pretty early as far as I can tell. I just came back to the present from the future and am at the end of a cave. Fighting a beast that I can only hurt with magic. I have plenty of supplies. I have skipped battles but not enough to have this much of a problem.

It's been awhile since I played through a fresh save but I don't ever remember him being problematic. Is he doing a counterattack? Because he gives you a warning before that activates.

Your graphic complaints are completely off the wall bullshit and they makes it sound like you've never actually played another old-school RPG in your life.
Can't comment on the rest, but god damn.

Earthbound doesn't do that (much) but I guess it's a rather American Dispite being made in Japan. In fact only JRPGs I've played that do that a lot are Dragon Warrior. But those games are fun enough for it to be okay. Never had that problem in a SNES game. That's not what's killing me. But I guess that means don't attack him then, huh? That may give me enough edge. That's time to heal and stuff. EDIT: So anyway. I'm trudging through this game. I'll let you know my verdict then. Until that. Know I dislike it. I'm not gonna argue or comment on CT things till then.
