People get mad about games that appeal to an audience broader than them and their nerd friends. "What do you mean they made it fun? THEY RUINED STRATEGY GAMES FOREVER!"
Speaking of strategy games, I've never been a fan of the RTS genre. I'm fine with turn based games, but I don't want to learn what each key on my keyboard does to make my build orders complete faster.
