Yeah I'll admit they really gave it up for the humans this time around. I'm running around with my Turian barely keeping up! Still fun though with the new maps to explore and fight in.

Finished Earthbound for the first time last night. A little disappointing. Especially the last few words of the game. Totally sets it up for a sequel involving Ness and the gang. Then NOPE. Mother 3.
Which I started playing. for a third time. I hope I can actually make it through this time before I get bored...

Don't people regard Mother 3 as one of the greatest RPGs of all time? I don't see how that's disappointing.

I've never been able to stand any of the Mother games.

You beat the final boss, a few words are said, credits, a few more words. End. Granted I've never gotten very far. But Mother 3's story is just so un-revealing. I never know what's going on. All the great jokes and okay combat just don't make up for it. Maybe this time it'll be better since I'm going to play large chunks at a time rather than 30-minutes at a time roughly bi-daily.

Mother 3 is the continuing story of Mother 2/Earthbound. The whole reveal of Porky as the final boss was the connection to Earthbound. It may not have had Ness and his team but it was showing that what Porky said at the end of Earthbound was true, he was back and a problem. He was just a problem for Lucas and his friends instead. That letter was just their way of saying that Porky wasn't gone, that he didn't just go good because Giegue/Gygas was dead, he was still a threat. JohnnyGo wrote: I've never been able to stand any of the Mother games. Now before I ask, I'm just going to state that I'm not trying to get you to play the Mother series or give it another chance, just curious is all. Anyway, what was it you couldn't get into? The pacing, the story or how ridiculously difficult the beginning of the game can be with the Sharks and Franky?

I've tried to play Earthbound three or four times, and my most recent attempt made it the furthest. I got through Threed before stopping for like half a year, and I played another hour or two about a month ago and got Jeff. Haven't played it since. My issue is I'm playing on an emulator, and I have a real problem with finishing emulated games. If they released a DS or Virtual Console port then I'd probably be a lot more motivated for whatever reason. I'm sure I'll get back to it, though, because this is just how I play games in general, it's just that emulated stuff I tend to give up on easier.

Well duh. I just figure Ness wouldn't sit around on his arse and let Pokey do crazy stuff. He'd probably go on an epic search for Pokey. Meaning more game. Or even cooler an animated movie. Lol I defeated Franky in like three turns. But I grinded a lot.

I've tried to play Earthbound a couple of times, just because a lot of you guys love it so damn much, but I couldn't get into it either. Takes a lot to get me invested in turn-based rpgs though... Had the same problem with Chrono Trigger, which was actually a lot more engaging. I probably owe them both another shot.
I think the last one that actually kept me hooked was Golden Sun. I'm with JT though, I'd probably be more inclined to play these games if they weren't emulated. I get too distracted by the internet when trying to play roms these days, especially slower ones.

You could hack your Wii (if you own one) and play them through that? Hacking a Wii is as easy as putting a file on an SD card, putting it in and clicking a few things. Only problem is SNES games freeze about every other hour. So you have to savestate often to not get fucked over. Playing brawl with cheats is so much fun.
