If games actually used this technology, the games would have to be different, making it an actual DS successor and not a DS with 3D thrown in.

And no, XL has a pen stylus, which you can't fit in the system itself. WHERE ARE YOU GONNA PUT THAT PEN OH JESUS CHRIST?!

I'd be more worried about where' you're going to put the XL itself. You can probably fit it in your back pocket, but I don't like hard things back there (phone, keys, etc.). Those are wallet pockets.

Yeah, I agree with you about the successor thing. But if it has backwards compatibility, then it can work as a DS, meaning why should I buy a new one? Well, the reason is that mine is falling apart. Plus, this thing isn't even going to be announced until E3. I doubt it'll come out before winter of this year, earliest. More likely spring or winter of 2011.

As for 3D, I'm not necessarily sick of it. I just haven't seen it used in any real intuitive way. Sure I enjoyed Avatar, but I wasn't obsessed with it. And 3D did kind of make it as good as it was. I'm worried that developers are going to get lazy and rely on 3D.

I'M PREDICTING IT NOW! In future console wars, 3Dness is going to replace graphics as the hot debate.

That's the scariest vision of the future I have ever heard of.

But whateves it'll probably take a couple of years for them to use 3D properly but we'll see. It's a neat gimmick for gaming at the very least.

Uhhh because it's a successor? Meaning it will be able to play games that the current DS cannot. That's like saying "IF TEH PS3 CAN PLAY TEH PS2 GAMEZ WHY BUY ONE LOLZ?"
That's based on my assumption that it utilizes the 3D as I described it. Think of head tracking. A little different than that. The iPhone has applications that use it.

I don't have a problem with the man personally, I'm just pissed at him for so heavily reinforcing this "revival" of 3D movies. It started a couple of years ago but all the hype leading up to Avatar basically made everyone think "OH MAN 3D MOVIES ARE THE WAY TO GO!" and made it so much worse.

AND NOW IT'S SPILLING INTO FUCKING VIDEO GAMES.

I sincerely hope every single one of these new pieces hardware fails miserably and nobody buys them. I don't want my controller replaced with a wand. I don't want the controller taken away from me. I don't want a Fak3D video game. I just want some fucking video games with a fucking controller.
