I'm surprised there's no thread about this already!

Is anyone else as enamored with this game as I am? I started playing on Sunday, because I had to finish my ME1 2nd playthrough all of last week
This game is blowing my mind. It's the same world, but the game seems so different. It's a new side to the coin.

We had an unofficial Mass Effect 2 thread but I SUPPOSE I CAN ALLOW THIS BECAUSE MASS EFFECT 2 IS SO AWESOME.

I'm on my second playthrough. I played as my imported Paragon Infiltrator first, and now I'm playing as a fresh Renegade FemShep Vanguard. So far I like the Infiltrator more, but Charge sure is fun when it doesn't get you killed.

After I beat it this run, I'm going to play through it again and again until I come up with a file I like to import to ME3. 8)

Though I'm not always good. I do all of the one-screen thingies, and sometimes I just get pissed and be bad.

Were you expecting it to be so different from ME1?

Honestly, no, I wasn't expecting it to be this different. Personally, I do like it, even though mostly just simplifying it for more action-oriented players. Do I wish characters had more skills? Yeah, but ME1 had a few too many. Do I miss not having to reload? Not at all. I understand why the change was made and they at least explained how it works in the lore, so it doesn't bother me at all.

As for the story, I love it to pieces. Sure, there's only about three or four main missions that aren't "get new member" and "earn member's trust", but that's what I'm really liking about it. You get so attached to almost every character because they're so vastly different and you learn so much about them. Wen trailers were first released for ME2, I was sure that I was going to hate Mordin with a passion -- he's now one of my favorite characters simply because of what an amazing background he has (It also helps that he performs Gilbert and Sullivan). Really, the only two teammates I ever felt completely attached to in ME1 were Garrus an Wrex -- in ME2 I'm constantly torn between who to bring for my party because I want to hear what all of them have to say about the current mission (Except for Jack. ...yeah.).

Really, the one thing I can think of that I'm not a huge fan of is the universal cooldown on skills, but I guess it's reasonable to stop you from spamming skill after skill (Also scanning can get tedious but fuck the MAKO.).

I'm downloading the first one again. Gonna see if my PC can handle all them flashy graphics.

We'll see how far I get before I slip into story-induced coma.

Honestly, after playing ME2, I don't think I could ever go back and play ME1.

No. >:C

It's the principle of the thing. I want to own the whole trilogy when she's finished (also it wouldn't sell for much).

Beautiful things should always be referred to as "she".

Only if you're referring to one at a time.

"Your left eyebrow... she is beautiful!"
"Your eyebrows... she is beautiful!"

Just not grammatically correct.

Nice, we apparently have exactly the same taste. Wrex and Garrus were the only party members I ever bothered with in ME1, and Mordin's my absolute favorite character in this game. My only complaint is that, so far, it seems like the story's going to be pretty short (haven't beaten it yet, but I get the feeling I'm pretty far along). So basically...everything you said. And screw Jack, my Paragon Vangaurd has no interest in some psycho bitch.

That said, my Paragon turned Renegade to gain Zaeed's loyalty. He's close to Wrex-level badass except that's he not quite as funny.

Oh, one other complaint--Vanguard seems really gimped now. I have a vanguard and an infiltrator in ME1, and the vanguard is unquestionably better, but in ME2, the vanguard is practically useless at range, and charging into melee is pretty often suicidal since you can't just heal at will anymore.
