I happen to agree, but most people seem to like Sonic 2 the best, for whatever reason.

Sonic 2> Sonic 3 > Sonic CD > Sonic 1 imo

I tend to prefer Sonic CD, but that's mostly just because it's more open. A lot of people like more linear games (like S3K), so it's just a matter of preference. Liking Shadow over CD, on the other hand, is just bad taste.

I have the most Nostalgia for Sonic 2, and I honestly prefer the sprite style... but S3K is just so LONG and full of content and replay value that you just can't top it with any of the other games.
@Stink: The fuck do you mean more "open"? You mean more like CHAOTIX, so you can run around in circles going nowhere because the stages are so huge and full of NOTHING?
Honestly, I don't even know how true that is. Sonic games are linear in general (SCD included), but S3K has TONS of branching paths to explore and get lost in, not to mention infinitely more fun and creative level design.

stellar? I wouldn't quite go that far, it's good, but I'd listen to the other megadrive soundtracks anyday, and some of the 3D ones too. ChaoticFox wrote: but it's on par with the rest of the 16-bit Sonic games. Poor level design, a broken spin dash, graphics that did not impress, horrible use of colour, the time travel aspect was poorly executed, the special stages... I love all the megadrive 2D sonic games, I agree about S3K being the best of the lot, but I still say CD sucks horribly. Shadow had similar gameplay to the adventures with improved accuracy with the homing attack, pretty much wrapped up shadow's story (which 06 shat on), and the multiple endings and routesadded replay value. I know its not as good as the megadrive games or the adventures but I still like it.

The levels are a bit bigger, and the whole "find and destroy robotnik thing in past then go to good future" thing seemed to reward exploration a bit more. But I'm not trying to say it's the best and everyone who disagrees is wrong; as I said, it's just a matter of preference.

I GUESS you have a point with the whole time-warp hunting aspect of it (which was rewarding, but not fun), but in place of that you lose out on special stage hunting.

The exploring in CD was fun by itself, so giving a reward for that just makes it a bit better. Also, I don't like the special stages in S3K that much, so I never wanted to hunt for them. I actually kinda like the special stages in CD.

I liked both, but I liked the rewards of SUPER/HYPER/ADDITIONAL FINAL LEVEL a lot more than "You got a good ending! =)"

I beat Ecco 1 and Ecco 2, both under an hour (1 was easy, two was HARD AS FUCK)
I've gotten over a million points in Galaga, making it to level 139.
I beat most of the Disney games for Sega in under thirty minutes (except Toy Story, that was more like 45), including Aladdin, Pocahontas, and The Lion King.
I really don't have much to brag about for Sonic...I've beaten them, that's all.
I'm not actually a great Mega Man player, either...I can beat the games, but I'm not stellar or anything.
Crash Bandicoot 2 I can beat in under an hour at 100%.
At different points in my life, I've caught all the Pokemon available to catch currently (I think it's like 493 now.)
I don't know, I think I've got a few more, but I forgot about most of them.

I can beat Turtles in Time in about half an hour, but that's hardly difficult.

I only played Lion King and Toy Story...but I got nowhere near ever beating either. I can't even imagine beating them in thirty minutes. In Toy Story, doesn't the level in which you hunt down the alien toys take about 10 minutes, just by itself?

Did you miss the whole "stupid unnecessary weapons and god awful vehicle" thing in Shadow? That plus the partner AI was terrible and the levels were boring and confusing at the same time. I don't know how long I was on that fucking ARK level in the flashback before I said "fuck this."
The story of the game is terrible; all it is is Shadow whining and moping more. The true ending is decent enough, but it by NO means makes up for the rest of the game.
And Shadow's story in '06 is one of the VERY few redeeming qualities about that game; Mephiles is an awesome villain. He should have been in Shadow's game instead of fucking Black Doom.

Most of Toy Story's levels are time consuming, which is why it took a bit longer than the others. I've played it and beaten it multiple times though, so it wasn't hard to memorize the levels.

I like being able to play all the levels in a game without having to go around finding all of the special stages I don't like playing and then being forced to play them. By saying you can unlock a final level by doing that, all you're saying is "You have to go through a ton of pointless crap to be able to see all of this game." That's why I've still never gotten to the final final stage of Sonic Heroes either.
