Guys, popular characters can still lose to other popular characters. It happens umpteen times a year, wherever the fanboys choose to roam. I can totally understand someone like Freeman beating Mario/Link. Half Life is a popular PC franchise. There probably just happened to be either more PC gamers or relatively younger gamers who didn't grow up on Mario/Link voting in this poll.
tl;dr -- stfu and stop getting so butthurt. Geez. I will only tolerate complaints about this kind of think when someone like ZACK FAIR wins anything.
