In terms of in-game play, the super effective thing doesn't matter... but on that note, very little actually does. Pokémon games are piss-easy, no matter who you choose or how you raise it.
When I talk about who is good, and what tactics are important, I'm always referring to like Stadium matches between friends, because that's basically the only time any of it actually matters. And there, a lot of battles can be decided in like 2 or 3 attacks, so type advantages and STAB bonuses are actually critical.

That's just a type thing. All weaknesses are related to type. Scizor is bug/steel = 4x (2x per type) weakness to fire.

To be fair, Platinum was actually a fair degree harder than Diamond and Pearl. It took me like 10 tries to beat the Elite 4.

So I'm replaying Platinum.
My team's gonna be Empoleon, Glaceon, Crobat, Garchomp, Lucario, and Mr. Mime this time around.
Last time it was Infernape, Jolteon, Gliscor, Weavile, Lucario, and Gallade. I felt like switching it up.
