When I realized I wasn't the slightest bit interested in anything involving Black and White 2 because I had become so sick of Pokemon, and then it worked its way back to the rest of them.

As much as I love pokemon, I still haven't played the latest, I will though, eventually. There is no rush with them as they are so damn similar anyway.
Anyone else dig viewtiful joe?

Didn't get a chance to play the DS game... Or the original two for that matter.

The World Ends With You is debatably the best DS game ever released.
Devil Survivor 1 and 2 were amazing in my opinion.
Strange Journey was also very good.
If you have all the time in the world, I personally loved Disgaea DS.
The DS castlevania's were all quite good, I've 100%'d them.
Ghost Trick was amazing.
Kingdom Hearts RE:Coded was awesome.
Bomberman Land Touch 1 and 2. Not all that challenging, a little kid centric, but honestly it was pretty fun and lighthearted. It's kinda mario party/warioware esque with its mini games.
Contra 4 - Surprisingly good. They added a few things to the gameplay but it didn't detract from the classic experience. Still as hard as ever.
9 hours 9 persons 9 doors. Oh my god, get this game. It's a puzzle solving story of a game, and I guess if you hate reading and in depth stories don't bother. It was like a cross between a puzzle solving game and a good novel.
Etrian Odyssey 1 2 and 3 - Good luck finding them if you are interested, they're a pain in the ass to track down, but I enjoyed them. Dungeon crawling turn based combat RPG. Lengthy and heavily challenging. Requires a bit of grinding at times. Flexible level up system that allows you to choose how you want your party to fight, even within the same class.
Lunar Knights - Solid RPG, not sure how to describe the gameplay though other than real time. It'd be worth trying to check out a video of gameplay.
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon - How has no one mentioned this yet? It's fire emblem. All of the ones on portables are awesome.
Megaman Zero Collection - I loved this. I loved the GBA cartridges as well of course. Not much of a fan of ZX, but I haven't gotten all that far admittedly. I'll finish it eventually.
Phoenix Wright - Annoying when you get stuck, but all in all a very fun and rewarding game that encourages real thought.
Professor Layton, all of them - Because puzzle games rule.
Retro Game Challenge - I loved EVERYTHING about this game. Seriously, buy it.
Sands of Destruction - A pretty fun turn based RPG. Only issue is..... it's really easy.
Trauma Center 1 and 2 - It surprised me to no end how much I got into these games. Very much worth a shot.
And that's my very picky only selecting the absolute best game list for the DS. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Phoenix Wright Trilogy releasining in original actually-drawn-looking resolution on iOS-- oh wait. Jay C doesn't have an iOS driven phone.
Though I bet it'll be out on other stuff soon. But this will most likely be the best version of the game.

I have all three Across Attorney games. I just cannot for the life of me bring myself to sit and play any more of the second one without pulling my hair out at some of the cases. They are a hell of a lot of fun but it's sooooooooooo linear. It's even harder to play because I take lengthy breaks and often forget what's happened so far in the case I'm on. Not to mention I just want to play TWEWY now that I have it. I'm still waiting to start that game until I know I can dump my life and soul into it.
Also thanks for all of the recommendations nightmanflock. While I haven't heard of a lot of those games, they definitely sound interesting. I'll have to check them out.

Also if the case you're stuck on is the circus one then try to just barge through it and get it over with at some point because it's the worst in the series, but the case immediately afterward is fantastic.

I just got to it. And I thought that spirits inhabiting bodies and changing their physical appearance bit reallly being plastic surgery was bad. Fuck

That case was pretty lame too, though there are quite a few important things referenced later in the game, as well as in T&T.
Overall JFA is not great but the final case makes it all worth it to me, unlike Apollo Justice, which was basically one gigantic disappointment.

Glad I'm not too late to be heard XD Enjoy the games when you get to 'em.
And I'm sorry, you enjoyed path of radiance? And Shadow dragon was awful? Wut. Path of radiance was like a slap in the face to fans of the series. It was effortless up until the last fight where everyone except main character man wasn't allowed to do damage, and then it boiled down to a combination of luck on earlier level ups and being patient with your healing and round grinding. How can you possibly have enjoyed that game.
