Jurgen Post, COO of Sega of Europe.
“Sonic is a well-known character, but we’ve got a lot of room to grow in merchandising. We dream of Hello Kitty. We’re still far off from that but we can see that our profits are growing year on year in the US and Europe [on merchandising]. We’ve got a licensing team on the ground in the UK who are focusing on that and that team will expand. We’ve got a team in the US and which will also expand. We used to run it all out of Sega of Japan, but having people on the ground is making a big difference. We will always do the computer game but the merchandising is a very important aspect to Sonic.”
I thought this was interesting.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE? SONIC HAIRCLI-- Oh. Those already exist.... SONIC SHAMPO-- Oh. That already existed.... I'd be down to dress my future daughter in Sonic cloths. How about you?

Buy ALL the merchandise!
But seriously, I've always wanted more variety / higher quality Sonic merch.

Same. What they have now is weak. I can only find those Generations action figures, shirts, wallets, rubber wristbands (who even wears those? They serve no purpose), and more wallets. I recently saw some Sonic phone charms at Hastings. (cool store) But you couldn't see what you were getting. I'd have bought one if it was otherwise.

In terms of Sonic Merch... I would love to have a pillow in the shape of the Life Symbol or something. I dunno, just make some DLC for Generations and I'll buy it. Hahaha

I always thought the shirts sucked or were really hard to find. Armbands would be pretty sweet. I went around looking for some nostalgic arm bands, but the only one I could find was thundercats. Then again, I was shopping at places like Spencer's, Hot Topic, and other places such as that. Nothing but some of the lame checkered ones and Batman or Robbin. I do like wearing them during shows because people get a kick out of it and its a great way to let the audience know I'm still a gamer geek at heart.

Sonic shirts usually do suck. It'd be cool to see a shirt with the original Sonic 1 or Sonic 2 logo on it. Evidently Hello Kitty and Sonic did a collaboration. Real thing, bro.

I don't know why, but that disturbs me. Maybe because it's face is completely white like Dave Chapelle doing the news as a white anchor with his face all powdered up.

I wanted to respond to that with a Chapelle reference but I couldn't think of anything that couldn't be considered offensive by someone who hasn't seen it.

Let's hope they release an official Tails Kitty. The Sonic one releases in Summer 2013 in America. Or you could import it I guess.
I honestly kinda want it, too...

I know sonic shoes maybe hard to make, but I'd be stoked to find sonic house slippers!

I don't think they'd be that hard to make. I mean, nobody really cares about the shape of the shoe. I don't think anyone's nerd-raging to wear pointy bullet shaped footwear. It's the iconic design we're after. Solid red shoes with a big white stripe (maybe a buckle-strap) and minimal extraneous patternwork. Easy.

But then they'd look like the Xbox Avatar Sonic shoes. Which look horrible. I'd want the right shape. Which would mean they'd need to be longer than your actual foot.
