I don't know if there's already a thread on this, but I'm not going two pages deep for something that has an easier solution. So boxart for games. Most of it sucks. Usually samey, soldiery stuff with a dude with a gun to have it blend in with the crowd of releases in November. But I like stuff that stands out. When the cover becomes more abstract and deviates from the norm, it catches my interest and might encourage an impulse buy from someone with cocaine money that stumbles into Target, Best Buy, or Gamestop. Some examples that I feel are particularly special are Borderlands,  Arkham City,  and Dead Space,  This subject was put into my head because of the reveal of Halo 4 cover art, which I actually kinda like despite my condemnation of covers with a guy who's carrying a gun. This is colorful and the Chief is in an action pose.

I really liked the presentation of the special edition for lord of shadows, instead of your normal metal case with random extras the case was printed as a hardcover art book, and the cover art was replaced with a drawn version of the image. Sadly most of the "art" in the book was just 3D renders of enemies instead of the 2D concept art
