Oops, I need a rephrase badly.

I said "That still leaves Wily in control"

Replace control with power.

"That still leaves Wily in power"

Because for the time being, I still believe Gamma's actions will coicide with Wily's short term plans.

I've decided that the prechorus on this song is now my second favourite part of the album, behind Magnet Man's Coda.

Something I just thought of today while relistneing to the album for the millionth time. Gods I can't get enough of this album. Love you blue bomber singin' guys. Anyway, when Wily sings "What good is power when you're out of control" what if he's talking about himself?

Earlier in the song he sings that he is no longer sane, and when you're insane you don't have control over yourself. You're quite out of your mind and out of control. I was thinking that maybe Wily was referring not to Gamma going ballistic on his Peacekeeping protocol but on the fact that he continues to seek power but has no control. That Gamma's not out of control, but he is because he caused Gamma to go berserk.

Unfortunately when we were trying to figure out the lyrics we got that line wrong. The actual lyric for that part is "I know that I am no longer the same"

I, too, like the "sane" lyric but that does take power away from Wily.

I had been thinking about this song for a long time, and I decided to write this:
http://thesamus999.deviantart.com/art/U ... -318297533
I took the original song and basically crafted a story around it from Wily's pespective. Here's a taste of it:
Unchaining Gamma
I stood at a console, entering a series of commands. A wall shuddered, and then shifted to the left, revealing my greatest creation, GAMMA: Gigantic Automated Mega Man Annihilator. A machine designed to end the war, to bring and keep the peace. A voice boomed over the loudspeakers: "Initialisation complete". A large red button lit up with a single word: Activate. As I reached to press it, I hesitated. Was I really willing to unleash this monstrosity on the world? I pressed the button. "System Activation in three point zero two minutes" the loudspeakers announced. So this was it. Gamma would end the war: I was certain of this. However, it was how the end would come about that worried me. Would destroying Mega Man end it? Or would it require more than that?

The "control" line is a direct reference to the end of the game, because Megaman can kill Gamma with one Top Spin. When people spin in a circle, they can get out of control and fall down.

This is completely unrelated, but did anybody else notice this line:
"I cheated, the lies that I told
*Is* for a future that I have seen"

Not to be a grammar nazi, but shouldn't it be "are"? I'm just asking because I remember Josh saying that he was a grammar nazi when it came to lyrics, so....

I saw it as more of him listing the wrongs he's done, lying and cheating. (All of this) is for the future he's seen.

I'm disturbed by the last "out of control" that Eric sings, because he sings the end like octave higher than the others.

You could say that his harmony is... Out of control

I really, really love the chorus in this song. It really evokes an image of Doctor Wily looking on Gamma with reverence.
