No rove for MM9? I wouldn't mind the Belmonts or X, or anything really. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought would be neat.

The thing about this, when I asked Josh, is that he said he didn't really want to do like "one song from a game" and basically because he relishes the story aspect. I know you're probably thinking the same thing as me, which is, "what's the harm of just a stray robot master theme - like Sheep Man or Skull Man?" but, that was the answer I was given so I figured I would share. Given how story-heavy MM3 is becoming, it seems logical to take a break from Mega Man, because really, how do you top such heavy emotional drama that we've already heard? I would like to remind everyone that we'll have new Megatainment coming as well, so it's a lot of Mega Man still :3 The only reason I don't cry for X so much is that I prefer the music of X2/X3 a bit more. But lyrical Castlevania is something pretty interesting to me. Especially if they do a song from Death's perspective.

I dont think anyone is trying to say MM9 is a bad idea, Fish. I personally dug the music in that game and think it would be great. But it could be years and years before the Megas ever get to it.

That's assuming they went through the series one by one. I agree that it would be sort of hard to keep up the thematic pace if they were to go through every game in the series, but if they skipped straight to nine or ten, they could avoid having to repeat a lot of themes and ideas (or wearing out their characters), and possibly go for something more climactic as far as characters and story. And that's just one option.
As for the X stuff, TRC... When it comes to the Megas, I'm not particularly concerned with how much I like or dislike the source material, because they will make it awesome regardless. And X in general has a pretty awesome story that's just RIPE with potential (something we've already seen the Megas tap into way back in the day when this site had a "blog". Does it really matter that X2 and X3 have better music? Also, what's to stop them from going on to do an X2, 3, etc once it's done? It'd be nice to start from the beginning this time.
I'm sure whatever they decide to do next, it will be awesome... but I'm still hoping for more Mega Man, in some form or another. "The Belmonts" is a rockin' idea and all - Castlevania is one of my favorite franchises - but I just feel like it'd kind of signify the end of an era or something, and I'd really like to see the Megas keep going forward... as The Megas. Despite my full confidence in the band to create something awesome, regardless of subject matter, I just can't bear the thought of The Megas dying down.
Sure, it may become more difficult the longer they keep doing it, but I think that just helps push them forward. I've seen the Megas grow and evolve with each new release, and it's silly to think they've "tapped out" their initial inspiration or that they can't continue to grow within their current niche.

Actually, I was referring to the fact that out Megas all have day jobs and more important shit to do.

You realize that no matter what they do next, it's going to be the same five dudes doing the same awesome shit, but with a different, equally rad source material, right? If anything I'd say it's a better idea to space it out in such a way that they don't burn themselves out on the blue guy. As much as we all like Mega Man, and as much as some people don't want to admit, there is such a thing as "too much." All I'm saying is we've all spent a lot less time listening to Megas songs than The Megas have spent making Megas songs. If they're still gung-ho about another Mega Man based project or album when MM3 is done, then I'm just as gung-ho to continue listening, but if it were me in their shoes I might want to explore the possibility of something a bit different after EIGHT YEARS of Mega Man. It's their call and I'm 100% behind whatever they want to do, but I just want them to know that should they pursue Vampire Hunting instead of Robot Blasting next, I will be hell of into that. Then your "end of an era" comments make even less sense.

How?
The band members themselves might still be making awesome music, but I'm saying that it will at the very least SEEM / FEEL like the end of something. An end to the "Mega Man era", where a band called The Megas makes awesome music based on the MM games.
I never said it would mean the end of all good music forever. Derp.

Because taking a break from Mega Man means no more Mega Man ever at any point. Def.

Seem. Feel. Capitalized and in italics with the hopes of cutting you off before you made a comment like that.
Neither of those words are "definitely means" :/
EDIT: Also, endings aren't necessarily final. I never assumed that if they became The Belmonts they would never touch MM material ever again until the end of time. My point is merely that I would be sad if the Megas stopped making Mega Man music, even temporarily, even if they were still making OTHER good music in the meantime.
A CV album would be awesome. But I'd still rather see another MM one. I have preferences. Deal with it.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Sunglasses at Night so I think it would be really cool if they did a cover album.
Also a Mega's cover of 18 and Life by Skid Row would be fantastic.
