I've been listening to recordings of magfest 9, which are awesome.
In the MM3 song "One Last Time", you have a grammatical error.
I'm nitpicking, but one of your lyrics is:
"If it was up to me, I'd rewrite history!"
when it should be
"If it were up to me, I'd rewrite history!"
At least, I'm pretty sure you're all singing "was".
BTW, is this song a duet between Megaman and Protoman?

Actually, no, they aren't wrong. Neither are you.
The subjunctive (which 'were' indicates) is not the only way to express a wish in the past. Though it is valid, it has not been in style since the 14th century:
If + past subjuntive + conditional (would/could)
Rather, you can use a simple if clause:
If + normal past tense + conditional
For example: If I had a million dollars, I'd buy a car
For our dilema here: the 3rd person (subject: it) past tense of 'to be' would be valid. a.k.a., was.
Hence; "If it was up to me, I'd rewrite history."
It would also be valid to use the subjunctive. For 'to be', that is indeed were. You are right in suggesting the subjunctive as an alternative, however it is not necesary. A past tense if clause is perfectly valid in expressing a wish in modern English.

Was indicates something has been.
Were indicates a hypothetical. The sentence is hypothetical.
I'm sure was works in some way, but were is proper.

The if is the primary focus.
If something had happened (in the past) then things would be different. The 'if' is the main carrier of hypothetical, regardless of subjunctive.

Dude, your best bet is to just drop it, Helios will argue over the smallest, most retarded shit when it comes to Megas lyrics, just trying to save everyone some time here.

I think it's "was".
Because "it" is the subject.

His problem is he backed up my argument in his second post without even realizing it.

8 sentences of the Majin and Helios Bickering Late Night Show is a bit taxing, yeah.

I'm semi glad that this isn't another "PLEES MEGUHS GIVE US MOOSICS AND STUFF" thread.

I wouldn't call that bickering, it was a nice, calm discussion about a grammar point.
My mentality is that nothing is too small to give a little attention to, and if there ends up being a conflict about it, it's best to resolve, even if it seems small and unimportant.

Lol, that was humerously placed, though. Fix'd in any case.
