I kind of think "My love for Acoustic is partly based on Equipped" is a cop-out answer.
That's like saying you can't like Get Equipped more than the official MM2 soundtrack because one was inspired by and based on the other.

Great point!
But, overall, I like the way this poll is going.
Both are nearly equal, and I think a lot of people felt it was a close decision...
Which is perfect.
If too much liked the old, it would feel like we were refusing to like the new simply because the original is "original and nostalgic". I feel like a lot have people have answered Get Equipped because it DOES have competition against Get Acoustic, not solely because it was "the original"
Yet, Get Acoustic also does not have a huge majority. Which means that all of us feel like we can go back to Get Equipped and still think it's cool.
The two albums are a great duality!

That line has actually bugged me for some time, doesn't dichotomy means the keeping of two opposites seperate? I mean, that completely goes against the song.

Dichotomy definition
I think there are multiple meanings to the statement.
First of all, it could just mean that it feels right to have the two opposing forces fighting for the same cause.
Secondly, depending on the definition: a dichotomy is just the division of two distinctly exclusive parts or classifications. Even if Fire/Ice Man were referring to themselves as a single unit, within him would exist a dichotomy.
Finally: That is the point. It's saying that two things that are different and distinct by nature shouldn't feel right together, and yet the fact that they do anyway is an "impossible unity" worthy of singing about.
