My initial reply said "Aw, I kind of missed him..." until the "you have no life" crack.

Hell, being offline doesn't even mean your life is any more meaningful. You could just be hanging out at parties and getting wasted 24/7. Cause that's so much more noble than posting on a forum.

We might as well start saying that playing video games is a waste of life, cause you should be out of doors whacking mailboxes with a hockey stick.

I have to admit, I usually get pretty pissed when people toss that expression around. I have a job, take classes, etc., but I've got friends and have a decent social life. But so much of that involves sitting in front of a computer anyway, that it's pretty subjective whether that's considered having a life.

I'm sure if we tried to determine what constitutes having a life, we'd come up with 20 different answers.

The only reason I defended him this time was that I don't think he really meant it to be hostile. I think the implication was that, when he left the forums, he found time to do stuff he really enjoyed, and he recommends taking some time out to do so. That's all. And I think that's fair, I've had several long streaks in which I didn't really bother much with the forums.

I wasnt even talking about anything like that. I was talking about the fact that the whole "people being asses to another is actually a problem on this forum". Its a forum. It's not relevant to everyday life. I allowed it to effect me to some degree, and since I didn't want to do so I decided to get out and live life a little more. And once you do, stuff thats said on a forum loses quite a bit of it's meaning.

I reread my post, but I honestly do not see how I came off as insulting. It simply wasnt meant that way. But again, since so many people claim it was insulting, I'll just take that as a mistake on my part. It wasn't meant to be insulting, and I am sorry if people did feel insulted by that.

"Get a life" is just a common turn of phrase that gets slung pretty frequently as a insult, especially (derp) on the internet, so hearing it from someone who supposedly left in part because we were dickheads just makes it seem more likely to have been said in bitterness.

I know it can be used like that. But I figured that my post was non offensive and peaceful enough to warrant some level of credit. Enough at least to show that I didnt intend to insult anyone, much less have people go "oh, the asshole is back".

I honestly don't even remember why everyone hated Dutch Man.

My knowledge of forum history is waning.

There was an incident involving him being indignant about a shun line, and then JT got temporarily riled up about Chrono Trigger... after that, every minor disagreement turned into a full blown argument and/or bash-fest.
